myLot Jar Jar Binks Costumes Discussions| Star Wars Prequels | | As a big Star Wars fan, I was very dissapointed by the new Star Wars movies. They just seemed like sacrilege to the Holy Trinity that was the original trilogy. Out of the three prequels "Revenge of the Sith", was the best out of a bad lot.So did you want to choke Jar Jar Binks binks to death with your popcorn?
Were the prequels just a jumped uo toy commercial?
| | What Star Wars Film Have You Enjoyed The Most? | | I absolutely LOVE Star Wars and I have lost count the amount of times I have seen all six films nowOver the Christmas and New Year period I had a wonderful Star Wars marathon! Sitting in my bedroom with the lights out and a nice big screen to watch Episodes 1, 2 and 3 with a drink and nibbles, it was just like the movies (without anyone to disturb me, mobile phones going off or people arriving late!)I never get bored with watching them, I actually went to the cinema to see the final piece of the puzzle, the most tear-jerking of all the three films Revenge of the Sith, yes I know I did shed a few tears, how that lovely little lad Anakin turned into the most evil and hated man in the Galaxy and when poor Padme died with a broken heart, it was time to reach for the mansize! So which of the six Star Wars films did you enjoy the most and why?Episode 1 'Phantom Menace'
Episode 2 'Attack of the Clones'
Episode 3 'Revenge of the Sith'
Episode 4 'A New Hope'
Episode 5 'The Empire Strikes Back'
Episode 6 'Return Of The Jedi'And who is your favourite character and your worst character?I can't help but like R2D2 and I couldn't stand Jar Jar Binks he was so...
| | Lego Star Wars: BLOCK PARTY, FORCED SMILE, AND ACTING UP. | | Of course, this is all very nice and everything, but it d soon get a bit tedious if that was all there was to it. Fortuanately, Lego stars wars uses its toytow origins to deliver some comedy touches. Some will make you laugh a lot more in one level that an entire films-worth of cutesy gurning from gungan liability jar-jar binks. Forced SmileUse the force on the jukebox in dexters cafe, for instance, and entire place starts hopping along to the mos eisley cantina band's favorite tune. Find some bricks scattered on the floor of jango fetts house, and you can rearrange them to form a portrait of the with them again to show picture of a clone trooper. Nice touches like this alone make the game worth playing.Virtually everything you see can be tweaked and prodded with the force- from flicking lights on and off to making huge space trucks explodes. And the'll all shower you with the lovely.. Lovely studs you need to buy extra characters. Just as good is the LEGO acting although its a scene for scene retread of the films, the characters react like proper comedy toys. Shudder! As captain panaka stop dead when he runs into darth maul, making everyone else slam into the... | |
| | Test of time | | The original trilogy was well ahead of it's time in terms of effects and as such still looks good today. However do you think in 20 years we'll be talking about the 3 prequels in the same terms? The strength of the original trilogy was that the story didn't rely on the effects so they were used sparingly. Can't say the same about the newer films. Will Jar JAr Binks really stand the test of time? | |

| | | Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith | | OK, I really don't want to watch this, not after the debacles of "Episode I" and "Episode II".
George Lucas has tainted his legacy--and I'm not just talking about Jar Jar Binks. Maybe he lost it in his old age. Maybe it was better not to have given him unlimited access to technology, because, yeah, 95 percent of the new flicks are either CGI or CGI-tweaked one way or the other. But the crap that was "The Phantom Menace" was amazingly followed by an even worse movie by the name of "Attack of the Clones". So does that mean Boy Band Vader is even worse than Baby Vader? But hey, give Anakin a break he doesn't "like sand".
What even more exasperating is that, somehow, I know I don't have any choice but to watch it since I saw the first two. Call it closure. Call it masochism. Boy, George, you sure fell to the Dark Side of the Force.
| | A Brief History of Special Effects Milestones. | | Some films are so revolutionary or offer such a memorable sequence that they become milestones in the history of CGI and Special effects. Here is a list of some of the movies that offered that certain magic.1968
"2001: A Space Odyssey"
Who can forget that Star Gate sequence and the Star Child? And how many people scratched their heads at the time, wondering if they'd taken too much acid and asking themselves just what the heck was going on in that last part of the movie?1977
"Star Wars"
It's the dawn of the new era, and that Death Star sequence still stands the test of time. Classic "Star Wars" is better than any alternate reality that spawned Jar Jar Binks and Boy Band Vader.
"Close Encounters of the Third Kind"
Now thats an alien mother ship.1981
"Raiders of the Lost Ark"
I still get the chills whenever I remember the first time I saw that climatic moment when the Nazis opened the Ark of the Covenant.1982
"Tron"
not only does it feature a lot of computer animation, but it's also one of the first films based on a video game. Plus it's all about a world inside a computer. That geeky enough for ya?1984
"The Last Starfighter"
Instead of miniatures,...
